CABIN: Hands-On “Gelli” Printing Workshop with Melanie Yazzie

As a printmaker, painter, and sculptor, Melanie Yazzie’s work draws upon her rich Diné (Navajo) cultural heritage. Her work follows the Diné dictum “walk in beauty” literally, creating beauty and harmony. During Yazzie’s visit to CSU, she will host a Hands-on Gelli Printing workshop at CABIN and give an artist lecture in the Visual Arts Building.

Music in the Museum Concert Series
Black piano keys over sheet music for Music in the Museum Concert Series This free Music in the Museum Concert Series explores the cross-fertilization of music and the visual arts through concerts in the galleries. Performances by Colorado State University music faculty and students are enriched with context provided by faculty from the Department of Art and Art History and the School of Music, Theatre and Dance. Music in the Museum is a free concert featuring faculty from the music department at CSU. The performance will be held in GAMA's Griffin Foundation Gallery and Director and Chief Curator Lynn Boland will speak on the connection between music and the art of Glorioserías: The Body in Late Twentieth Century Mexican Art.

Mary Mattingly Artist Talk
Join the Colorado State University Energy Institute and the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art for an artist talk by Mary Mattingly and the unveiling of her work in its new location at the Powerhouse Energy Campus (430 N. College Avenue). Mattingly will give a forty minute presentation followed by a brief audience Q&A. Afterwards, attendees are invited to view the work installation and enjoy light refreshments. The artist talk will be recorded and uploaded to GAMA's website and YouTube page.

Food Justice Week Event: Cooking for Food Justice

Guiding Question: How does cooking nutritious, culturally appropriate food address food justice and food sovereignty? Duan Ruff, Director of the B/AACC and Jamal Skinner, Executive Director of the Cultural Enrichment Center, will host a cooking demonstration class featuring nutritious, culturally appropriate food to address how colonialism has affected the development of the food system. Registration is limited to 18 participants. This event is FREE, but participants must register in advance.
