As a printmaker, painter, and sculptor, Melanie Yazzie’s work draws upon her rich Diné (Navajo) cultural heritage. Her work follows the Diné dictum “walk in beauty” literally, creating beauty and harmony. During Yazzie’s visit to CSU, she will host a Hands-on Gelli Printing workshop at CABIN and give an artist lecture in the Visual Arts Building.

Drop in anytime between 2:30 and 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29 for our Communication Studies Open House in our department offices in the second floor annex of the Behavioral Sciences Building on CSU's campus. We'll have giveaways, treats (free donut holes!), and more. Bring a friend and you'll both be entered for more chances to win cool prizes.

On Wednesday, March 30 from 11:15 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., Chase Baker (Digital Content Creator at Nutrien), Morgan Boecker (Producer Communications Manager at Certified Angus Beef ), Sarah James (Development Manager at the Arts Students League of Denver), and Nicole Laydon (Realtor at The New Era Group) will speak on Zoom (https://zoom.us/j/98652714602) about their careers and professional experience since graduating from CSU. On Wednesday, March 30, the CSU Department of Art and Art History will host a book launch event in collaboration with Women’s Art Wednesday to celebrate the release of their new book, Women’s Art Wednesday: A Woman Artist for Every Week of the Year.

Join the Colorado State University Energy Institute and the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art for an artist talk by Mary Mattingly and the unveiling of her work in its new location at the Powerhouse Energy Campus (430 N. College Avenue). Mattingly will give a forty minute presentation followed by a brief audience Q&A. Afterwards, attendees are invited to view the work installation and enjoy light refreshments. As a black farmer, athlete, and an Associate Professor with appointments in both Ethnic Studies and Sport Management in the College of Liberal Arts here at CSU, Professor of Ethnic Studies Albert Y. Bimper Jr., PhD, will share demonstrate how permaculture farming works on a small scale. The tour will shine light on the path to food justice, personal health, and future generations.  

Herbal Medicine: The Medicine of the People Join Certified Herbalist, Brita LaTona, for an introduction to herbal medicine. We will discuss herbalism as a healing modality, the primary ways to administer herbal remedies, and common plants that grow well in this region. Each student will get the opportunity to make their own herbal tea blend to bring home.
