Biography

My name is Meredith Laurel (she/her) and I’m originally from Dallas, Texas. I received a B.A. and M.A. in Communication Studies at Texas Tech University, and I’m fortunate enough to now pursue my Ph.D. and teach here at CSU. I identify primarily as a rhetorical critic of media with a special interest in the suasory character of television and film and the ways these communication technologies shape our social and political environments. My Master’s thesis explored rhetorically significant depictions of technology within the television show Black Mirror and the film Buried. Ultimately, I love living at the intersection of rhetoric and media studies and immensely value the time I have to work closely with students. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring Colorado with my partner and our giant Great Pyrenees, Shelby!
