Katharyn is a first year M.S. student in Public Communication and Technology at C.S.U. She is originally from Houston, Texas, but made her way to Colorado in 2014 when she started at Colorado School of Mines. She graduated in 2018 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. While at Mines, Katharyn realized she was interested in the theory she was learning, but not the application. As editor-in-chief of CSM’s student newspaper, The Oredigger, Katharyn realized journalism and communications were her true passions. Her current research interests include understanding the pervasiveness of anti-intellectualism as it relates to the environment and water resources, and the distrust of journalists from both scientists and the public alike.
