Biography

Jennifer “Jamie” Folsom has devoted her professional life to education, public health and journalism, particularly working with individuals and organizations in Indigenous communities. She is a recent PhD in Media Communication, whose research interests take her to the heart of these three disciplines by asking, “Who is telling our stories?” Her research interests include the intersections of art, communication, science, media technology and popular culture. Folsom is a citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, and a member of the Native American Journalists Association, Society of Professional Journalists, Intercontinental American Indigenous Research Association, and the Indigenous Inquiries Circle. She serves on the JMC Center for Science Communication, and the CSU Native American Advisory Council.
