Community Meet & Greet: Ricardo Simmonds

The CSU Department of Philosophy invites our local faith and secular community members to join us for a Meet & Greet with each of the four finalists for the Willette Professorship in Catholic Studies. All engagement events will be held in the Seminar Room of the Smith Alumni Center (701 W. Pitkin St, Canvas Stadium).

On Monday, March 28, we welcome Ricardo Simmonds, a PhD candidate in Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado.

An expert in Catholic integral ecology, Mr. Simmonds’ research focuses on Catholic Philosophy and Theology as applied to environmental studies. With wide ranging interests in the engagement of religion and modernity, he publishes regularly on the environment, theology, and philosophy as a professional advisor for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

He is the founder of Creatio, an environmental non-profit that engages thought, prayer, and service to the poor in ecological activities. Through Creatio and the USCCB Environmental Justice Program he directs the Laudato Si’Advocates Program which provides paid environmental policy and advocacy internships for college students around the US.
