The U.S. Department of State recently selected two Colorado State University undergraduates as Critical Language Scholars, a prestigious program that provides intensive overseas language and cultural immersion for college students.
International studies major Ryan Murray (’23) won a $25,000 College Grant Sweepstakes from Bimbo Bakeries USA.
Zoe Meireles is recognized as an outstanding graduate for their ability to bridge the classroom and the “real world”, sharing about how histories of colonialism have impacted their own family.
Abi Tekeste is recognized as an outstanding graduate for her dedication to learning about herself and her community.

Abi Tekeste and Giselle Alpizar-Calixto use their summer internship experience with CSU Extension to understand the language barriers to healthcare, and to provide information and resources, in rural Colorado in a project called Spanish in Professional Environments.
Each summer, we celebrate the scholarly and adventurous ways College of Liberal Arts students spend their summer break. Between internships, education abroad, and volunteering, our students are using their time away from campus to enrich their college experience.
