Biography

Seth I. Sagstetter is a PhD student in Anthropology at Colorado State University. His research utilizes ethnographic and mixed methods to explore the therapeutic use of tabletop roleplaying among gaming communities in the United States and Singapore. In the United States he studies how young adults negotiate identity and form community through roleplaying games. His work in Singapore explores how communities cope with work-life imbalance and distress through play. He is primarily interested in the relationships between culture, play, identity, and catharsis.
