Biography
Jesse D. McLain has been part of the CSU English Department faculty since 2020. She teaches a variety of courses, including: College Composition, Writing Arguments, Writing in the Disciplines - Social Sciences and Issues in Language, Law, and Justice. She has taught Trial Advocacy and related courses at both undergraduate and law school levels and is a volunteer judge for mock trial events held at CSU. Her areas of academic interest attempt to bridge the gap between access to justice and access to legal and academic language. Her work and teaching often focuses on Constitutional and Criminal Law principles; conflict resolution/clear communication; and legal, political, and professional ethics. She currently serves as CSU's Faculty Chair for Academic Misconduct Appeals and was a Director of the International Writing Across the Curriculum Conference in 2025.
Jesse has been a licensed attorney in Colorado since 2013, is an experienced litigator and trained mediator.
