Biography
Fan graduated from the University of Georgia with a Journalism degree in Mass Media and a minor in New Media Arts. From an early age, Fan has been entranced by wild spaces. She was encouraged to pursue outdoor adventures by her father, an avid camper, and fisherman. After completing her undergraduate degrees, Fan quickly realized she could leverage her digital skills within the outdoor industry. After college, she worked as the Western Regional Director for Wilderness Adventures, planning, managing, and marketing summer programs for teens in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Hawaii. She then moved on to program management with the Teton Science Schools, an educational non-profit whose mission was to provide place-based educational experiences within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. While at CSU Fan hopes to explore the intersection of digital and social media and the natural world, particularly how media influences the way in which humans share recreational experiences on public lands in a “wild” environment.
