Master of Music Student Showcase
Black piano keys over sheet music for Music in the Museum Concert Series GAMA's free Music in the Museum Concert Series explores the cross-fertilization of music and the visual arts through concerts in the galleries. Performances by Colorado State University music faculty and students are enriched with context provided by faculty from the Department of Art and Art History and the School of Music, Theatre and Dance. Music in the Museum is a free concert featuring faculty from the music department at CSU. The performance will be held in GAMA's Griffin Foundation Gallery and MFA graduate and artist Justin Price will speak on the connection between music and the art in the MFA Thesis Exhibition 2022.

Carl Wilson Artist Talk and Reception
Please join us Thursday, May 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the Organ Recital Hall of the University Center for the Arts for a talk by exhibiting artist Carl Wilson as part of the Critics and Artist Residency Series. Then come downstairs to the museum for a reception and an opportunity to speak with the artist.

Both events are free and open to the public.

The Critic & Artist Residency Series, founded in 1997, brings prominent artists, critics, and curators to the Colorado State University campus for public lectures, open forums, classroom visits, critiques, and exhibitions.

The images in this exhibition are from A Legacy of Shadows, a series of traditional, non-Photoshopped photographs that evoke the fracturing of nature and the poignancy of acknowledging beauty in a time of destruction.
Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop with Jodie Hollander
Poet Jodie Hollander teaches this workshop, in which participants will respond poetically to exhibitions at the museum. Students will study examples of celebrated poems that respond to or were inspired by art. Then students will be led through a variety of writing activities inspired by art at the museum, ultimately leading to a draft of an original poem. Students will discuss poetic techniques such as the use of vivid imagery, the importance of sonics, how to shape a poetic line, as well as techniques for drafting and revision.
