In the first Fall Address held since 2019, Interim President Rick Miranda reflected on what former Colorado State University President Al Yates said during the aftermath of the Spring Creek Flood that inundated campus in 1997.
Colorado State University Interim President Rick Miranda has named Professor Greg Luft, longtime chair of the University’s Department of Journalism and Media Communication, as CSU’s interim vice president for marketing and communications, effective Sept. 15.
“Thank you, as well, to all of the students, staff, and faculty across the University who helped ensure a smooth Move-In Week, Ram Welcome, and start to the fall semester overall.”
The committee heading up the search for the next president of Colorado State University is hosting a series of public listening sessions to hear from stakeholders about what qualities they want to see a new leader bring to the Fort Collins campus.
Nearly 200 volunteers took part in CSU’s signature outreach effort to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to Poudre School District students.

As Miranda gets ready to assume the interim role on July 1, he took some time to discuss his priorities as well as the search for the new president of CSU.
I wanted to write this morning to assure you that the University is in excellent hands with its very capable leadership team – vice presidents, deans, and department and unit heads – and with all of you who are teaching our classes, supporting our students, and keeping CSU running smoothly and well.
“Now, more than ever, it is imperative that we continue to live up to our own Principles of Community. We must embrace one another and vow to work tirelessly to ensure that we have a safe and respectful campus that values inclusiveness and encourages different voices to be heard.”
