This scholarship honors Professor James (Jim) R. Irvine for outstanding teaching and advising during his thirty-two years at Colorado State University. Jim taught rhetoric at the undergraduate and graduate level. He served for 15 years as the director of graduate study, building the M.A. program into one of the best M.A.-only rhetoric programs in the United States. He was also named Honors Professor. His many advisees regard him as mentor and "friend".
