Biography

Solei Johnston (she/they) is a second-year Master's student studying Communication Studies, with a concentration in Film & Media Studies. She received her Bachelor's in Psychology at Fort Lewis College, located in Durango, CO. There, they got involved in research, conducting mixed methods social psychological research with FLC's SPEx Lab. Currently, Solei is interested in studying how film festivals affect independent film from both a cultural and industrial perspective. Concurrent with her studies, Solei serves as an instructor of record for SPCM 200: Public Speaking and as a teaching assistant for SPCM 486B, Practicum: Film Festivals.

You can find Solei watching movies, collecting Blu-Rays, searching for new movies, or attending film festivals. They also enjoy spending time with their cat, Oliver, and playing the History Channel Trivia game.
