Biography

The digital, online world is changing the way we work, play and interact with oneanother. Small, portable video cameras (including cell phone cameras) capable ofrecording in high definition have replaced the complicated cameras of the past. Posting toonline sites allows for quick and easy distribution.

My research question is: how have these evolving channels and technologies changed therole and workflow of videographers at land-grant universities, especially within Collegesof Agriculture and the Extension system. These video units have been part of thenewsgathering and dissemination process and instructional design for 30 + years.

My areas of interest include image-based research, community identity theory and audience reception studies with a focus on how adoption of communication technologies are demonstrated in the online world.

I am currently the director of outreach and engagement for Colorado State University Extension, where I oversee not only outreach efforts but provide formal and non-formal training on topics including media relations, video production and photography, writing and branding. Prior to coming to Colorado State University in 2008, I had a similar role at the University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
