Biography

Positions:  Professor and Chair, Journalism and Media Communication, CSU;  Senior Fellow, Institute for Education in International Media (ieiMedia); Immediate Past President, Broadcast Education Association; Semester at Sea Academic Dean, spring 2019; Board of Directors, Rocky Mountain Student Media Corporation; Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication (ASJMC) Representative to the National ACEJMC Accrediting Council, 2019-2020.

 

Education: M.A., Broadcast Journalism/Public Affairs, The American University; B.A., Technical Journalism, Colorado State University; Scripps Howard Leadership Adacemy, Louisiana State University.

 

Professional experience: Reporter, photojournalist, producer and anchor for television; independent producer of documentaries, educational and corporate videos.

 

Specialty areas: News coverage and journalist behavior in coverage of significant events, especially as it relates to coverage of sensitive issues involving victims of crime and tragedy. Also, production techniques and practices in television news, documentary and corporate video production.
