Dakota Cotner is an Academic Success Coordinator for the College of Liberal Arts working with students majoring in Journalism and Media Communication. Dakota studied History at the University of Northern Colorado with a focus in modern warfare and communication.

Dakota is a firm believer that education should encourage a sense of pride and excitement for students, in and out of the classroom. She stands by the philosophy that a college education should develop a student’s curiosity for learning, develop their personal integrity and further their understanding necessary to participate as informed citizens of their society. She also likes to see her students challenge themselves to set and achieve high individual standards while learning to contribute intellectually, responsibly and respectfully to their world.

Outside of work, Dakota enjoys spending time with her family and horses. She is an active member of the American Paint Horse and American Quarter Horse Associations and competes nationwide while also serving as a board member for the Northern Colorado Riding Club.
