Biography

Channing Bice is a Ph.D. candidate at Colorado State University's Department of Journalism and Media Communication. Her research focuses on the role of strategic message design in communicating risks and improving access to information about health and environmental topics. So far, her work has explored evidence-based approaches to communicating about health and environmental risks, such as poor air quality, wildfire recovery, unintentional wildlife feeding, and occupational hazards. Her research also explores how communication can facilitate resilience processes, such as coping, social support, and self-efficacy. She is continuing this line of research as one of the first doctoral students admitted to the Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center’s Climate and Worker Health Targeted Research Training Program at the Colorado School of Public Health. This program aims to train researchers in dimensions of health equity and environmental justice to research strategies to address the impacts of climate change on occupational health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Science in Public Communication and Technology from Colorado State University.
