Biography
Hello! I am from Charlotte, North Carolina and attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. I am a first-year Master's student and Graduate Teaching Assistant. My research interests are focused primarily on social and political philosophy, phenomenology, and philosophy of technology. Most recently, my interests lie in artificial intelligence (AI) and the ways in which AI recreates a social hierarchy while harming human activities, such as creating art. I am also interested in finding methods of creating inclusive pedagogy that allows philosophy to become more accessible.
I wrote my undergraduate thesis about the endangered saving power of art, as posited by Heidegger, due to the advent of generative AI and the intuitive compulsion to refer to the product of generative AI as "art". In this thesis I make the case that art is an innately human activity, which can never be reproduced by a non-human entity, such as AI. Towards the end, I suggest a semantic shift towards referring to these products as Computer-Rendered Artificial Pictures or C.R.A.P. as a final measure to protect the human value of the term "art".
Outside of philosophy, I love reading, hiking, swimming, paddleboarding, and most crafts. I carve stamps, screen-print, sew, and needlepoint.
