I am a third-year doctoral student in the Department of Anthropology and Geography at CSU with Dr. Andrew Du with a concentration in Biological Anthropology. My dissertation research is aimed at quantifying the nutritional composition of contemporary eastern African mammalian carcasses and other available resources to build empirical models of early hominin diet and foraging behavior. By documenting seasonal variation in fat and protein availability across a range of resources in the eastern African savannah, including wild ungulate carcasses at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya, I aim to address how macronutrient constraints shaped key behavioral and anatomical adaptations in our genus, including the avoidance of protein toxicity, decisions around hunting versus scavenging, and the evolution of larger brains.
