This workshop shares insights about a collaborative learning experience called Social Justice Thru the Arts, a week-long CSU Alliance Partnership summer institute for underserved high schools in Colorado. We use a performative format to chart a feeling sense about our journey working with the students who attended.

The year’s institute incorporates participant’s sense about power, privilege, and gender justice via the Selfie where seeing, being seen, and seeing through, or unmasking encourages social change. The metaphor of the mask or Mas/caras helped participants develop awareness about how self fits into community and how community fits into the self.
