Dr. Xiaopeng Pang, Visiting Scholar from the School of Agriculture and Rural Development at Renmin University of China, will present Women in Rural Governance: Evidence from a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) and Action Research in China.” Dr. Pang will discuss her most recent research on rural development and bottom-up collaboration in China. She conducted a RCT in one hundred villages and an action research program in one county to collect and analyze evidence around women in rural governance. Dr. Pang will also discuss human capital and rural revitalization from a gender perspective, including rural compulsory education, farmer training, and university-based agricultural extension.

Dr.  Pang is a professor at the School of Agriculture and Rural Development at Renmin University of China. Her research interests include development economics, anti-poverty and rural development, gender equality and economic development, and public policy. Pang is currently a member of the 5th Council of the Chinese Women’s Research Association, the International Feminist Economics Association, and the Chinese Economic Association in the United States. She is a participant in the Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues Research Group on Women and Society.
