This scholarship was established to assist Communications Studies majors in studying abroad. Frank B. Davis taught Speech and coached Debate in the English Department at Colorado A&M from 1937-1942 and again from 1947-1948. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II in the South Pacific, which introduced him to a life-long interest in other places and cultures, passed down to his children. Dr. Sue Davis Pendell came to Colorado State University in 1979 as a faculty member in the Department of Communication Studies where she taught in the area of interpersonal and intercultural communication and served in many capacities, including Study Abroad advisor, until her retirement in 2014. This fund supports two scholarships each year: one awarded in the Fall for Spring or Summer Education Abroad and one awarded in the Spring for Summer or Fall Education Abroad.
