As Associate Dean for Research for the College, my job is to support the research and creative activities of faculty and students and facilitate practices that result in impactful scholarship. In the College of Liberal Arts, scholarship takes many forms depending on whether you identify as being in the arts, humanities, or the social sciences, or somewhere in between. I oversee the implementation of college-level competitive grants and awards. I also act as a liaison between the college and the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Office of Sponsored Programs, and the One Health Institute.
Beyond those more formal duties, I am constantly trying to find ways to assist our faculty and students in achieving their creative research goals. I regularly host workshops and brown-bag sessions with these aims in mind. Recent events have included such topics as external grant proposal writing, book proposal writing, communicating one’s scholarship to stakeholders, and mentoring. Please know that you can always come to me with ideas for additional workshop/brown-bag topics, or whenever you have a question about anything scholarship related.
