Ph.D. French (Middle Eastern history concentration), University of Virginia

International Experience

Lived in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, and France. Worked in a variety of countries across the Middle East, Europe, West and Central Africa, Central America, and Southeast Asia.

Favorite Aspect of CSU

The loyalty of the students to the university. CSU is a great place to study and to work.

    Syllabus

    What’s in a word? Or a syllable, or a phoneme? This course introduces linguistics from the smallest units of language, individual sounds, to the largest, phrases and sentences, what they mean and how they change based on who’s talking. We explore phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and sociolinguistics.
