Directs research, internship and service learning programs and works with CSU department-run programs. Serves as Education Abroad leader for emergency and risk management.

Lived in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, and France. Worked in a variety of countries across the Middle East, Europe, West and Central Africa, Central America, and Southeast Asia.

    Syllabus

    What’s in a word? Or a syllable, or a phoneme? This course introduces linguistics from the smallest units of language, individual sounds, to the largest, phrases and sentences, what they mean and how they change based on who’s talking. We explore phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and sociolinguistics.
