Biography

I am from Rockford, Illinois, and I moved to Fort Collins to pursue a Ph.D. in Communication Studies. As an avid hiker and fisherman, I was immediately drawn to CSU and the Fort Collins area. In 2016, I received my undergraduate degree in Public Relations from Illinois State University. However, I fell in love with the idea of teaching at the university level. So, I decided to continue the path of higher education and I earned a Master’s degree also at Illinois State. Not only did I enjoy teaching in graduate school, but I also realized my passion for research. My research area focuses on rhetoric, media, and critical-cultural studies. I also consider myself a “foodie,” and wrote my Master’s thesis on Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. This sparked my specific research interest, which involves the intersection of food and culture and how understandings of culture are communicated through food and the media. Overall, I am very excited to work with everyone in the Communication Studies department and I hope to grow and learn as an educator and scholar.
