Biography

Meghan Taylor is the Athletic Band Support Specialist and SMTD Coordinator for Health Education and Wellness Promotion at Colorado State University. Dr. Taylor received a Ph.D. in Music with a concentration in Performing Arts Health at the University of North Texas. Her publications include a booklet titled "Musician Health: A Primer and Resource Guide," archived on the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) Website. As project manager for an initiative funded by the NNLM under award number UG4LM012345, Dr. Taylor led a team that prepared music educators in Denton, Texas, to incorporate health education into band, choir, and orchestra classrooms. Her dissertation research expanded this project to understand state-wide efforts among music educators to integrate health concepts in secondary band, choir, and orchestra classrooms. Dr. Taylor and colleagues were awarded second prize for their epidemiologic research on clarinetists during the International Clarinet Association’s annual Research Competition at ClarinetFest® 2019. She also chaired the ICA’s Health and Wellness Committee from 2020-2022. In 2023, Dr. Taylor was invited to present during the World Health Organization's #MakeListeningSafe Initiative in Geneva, Switzerland. She has also presented research at the Performing Arts Medical Association’s International Conference, the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest, Research Appreciation Day at the UNT Health Science Center, and the Digital Clarinet Academy. As a clarinetist, she studied with Deb Fabian at UNT, Malena McLaren at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, and Karl Kolbeck at Wayne State College. Dr. Taylor earned degrees from Northwestern State University of Louisiana (M.M.) and Wayne State College (B.S. in Music Education). Dr. Taylor is also a certified yoga instructor and teaches fellow musicians at a virtual yoga studio.
