Melissa Brandon is a first-year PhD student in the Journalism and Media Communication Department at Colorado State University. She also supports the work of young people at Colorado State University's Student Media. Melissa joins the JMC Department after spending the last 7 years managing the organizational communications team at the National Cattlemens Beef Association in Denver, Colorado. In that role, Melissa created and executive produced more than 300 episodes of a nationwide, hour-long, weekly television show that generated revenue each year in the millions of dollars. During her tenure, she also led projects ranging from the creation of annual reports to development of online training courses to internal communications. Prior to that, Melissa worked as a television news producer at KKTV in Colorado Springs, followed by stints at KUSA and KCNC in Denver. Melissa holds bachelors degrees in Journalism and Technical Communication as well as Political Science from Colorado State University as well as a masters degree in Organizational Leadership with a focus in Public Relations and Marketing from the University of Denver. During her time at Colorado State, Melissa hopes to study the effects media has on political outcomes.
