As a physics geek on the pre-med track, first-day-of-college-me would’ve never thought I’d end up majoring in communication studies—let alone that I’d eventually pursue a Ph.D. in it! I quickly realized, however, that my passion for medicine wasn’t about biological treatment; it was about people’s stories.

My current research expands this love for the vulnerability and connectivity of medical stories by adding a critical activist orientation. With particular attention to identity and power, most of my work centers how we understand/conceptualize suicide and mental illness. When I’m not working on these projects, I spend my free time rock climbing, watching Grey’s Anatomy on repeat, and running around the Rockies with my camera and #1 adventure buddy: a wild border collie named Winston.
