I am a first-year graduate student in the Communication Studies Master's Program at CSU. I recently received my undergraduate degree in Communication Studies from CSU, as well as a minor in Creative Writing. My area of academic interest lies in the intersection between gender and media, specifically in film and new media. I love to analyze the ways in which the concept and practice of gender is produced, received, and reproduced. My undergraduate Honors thesis was titled "Blood is Thicker than Water: Representations and Effects of Sister Relationships in Horror Cinema."
I was a presenter at the 2019 Southwest English Symposium at ASU. My presentation was titled "Seeing Beyond the Lines: Text-Image Interactions and Selection Criteria for Picture Books," and was designed as an explanation of the unique subgenre of picture books, especially providing adults with a practical set of selection criteria for educational purposes.
