Hayley received her B.A. in Communication Studies and a minor in Information Science and Technology from Colorado State University in 2015. As an undergraduate she became interested in race and the media after taking Evaluating Contemporary Television (it is an AWESOME class). One of her favorite shows is Scandal, although she wonders why Olivia Pope is nearly always portrayed with straight hair. It seems that most powerful Black females follow this trend. Through the Public Communication and Tech program, Hayley hopes to combine her background in communication with technical writing skills to investigate, explore, and expand on these research interests. After graduation she is planning on winning the lottery. If that plan fails, she wants to continue onto a PhD program and stay within academia to teach others about mass media and communication.
