Biography

My name is Emily and I use she/her pronouns. I am originally from Fargo, ND, but have lived in a few other states before coming to CO. I received my undergraduate degrees in Communication and Hispanic Studies at the College of St. Benedict in MN.  My research interests fall at the intersections of Intercultural Communication, Media, and Rhetoric, specifically focusing on Latinx Representations. My current projects include analyzing portrayals of Latinx historical figures and characters in art museums and children's films. I taught a variety of high school courses in Spanish previously to graduate school, and my love of teaching spurred me to continue my own education. I currently teach SPCM 200: Public Speaking. When not in the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends in nature and at coffee shops, as well as frequent dog park visits with Winnie.
