Biography

Artist Debora Bernagozzi works primarily with the mediums of video and photography. Her work has been exhibited in the US and internationally. Inspired by residency experiences that were transformational for them both personally and artistically, Debora and huband Jason Bernagozzi, along with Hank Rudolph co-founded Signature Culture, an experimental media art nonprofit organization that provides residencies, resources, and exhibition opportunities for artists, researchers, and innovators working in the field. She serves as Executive Director, while continuing to create and exhibit her own artwork.

She received her BFA in Video from the Atlanta College of Art in 1999 and her MFA in Electronic Integrated Art from Alfred University in 2002. She was awarded artist residencies at the Experimental Television Center, Squeaky Wheel Media Arts Center, and the Institute for Electronic Arts. Bernagozzi and her husband were honored to be artists in residence in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in January 2012, co-sponsored by the Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film and Video Festival (KLEX) and Multimedia University. She has taught at institutions including Hobart & William Smith Colleges, Nazareth College, Syracuse University, and Alfred University.

  • Photo Image Making III

    ART 331: Studio course designed to further growth of concept, materials in photographic expression as an art medium. Digital photography will be emphasized.

  • Law and the Arts

    LEAP 670: Examines the legal foundations of artistic creation including copyright, freedom of expression, public domain laws, and contract negotiation.

  • LEAP 600: Discussion of the role of artist as citizen and how we affect public policy.
