Carla comes from mountainous Southern Colorado (right at the foot of Pikes Peak) and graduated from CSU with a B.A. in English education and creative writing (with a minor in Japanese). She's interested in researching the potential that media and pop culture have in education, their applications for learning, and how educators (and the media) can use its creative products for educational purposes.

Most of her professional experience is in education tutoring GED/ACCUPLACER prep and teaching English as a Second Language at Aims Community College. She also has experience blogging for a marketing company producing content for dental websites and Jax Outdoor Gear writing promotional materials for in-store products.
