Biography

Amanda Martinek is an M.S. student in the Journalism and Media Communication department at Colorado State University.

Born and raised in Southern California, she received a BA in Communications from UC San Diego. She spent the past six years at the Director of Social Media at a start-up digital marketing start-up agency called 85SIXTY.

Her research interests include environmental communication, social movements and political activism communication. Her thesis research focuses on how one's identity, communication practices and attitudes effect engagement in youth collective climate action.
