Adam Walke was born in Oklahoma City, OK, and grew up in Santa Fe, NM.  He obtained a BA in History and Spanish from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX.  In 2004, he moved to El Paso, TX, directly across the Río Grande from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.  In the following years, he worked for several border region nonprofit organizations.  Living and working in a dynamic metropolitan area of more than two million people that is bisected by an international boundary prompted many questions about the social and economic effects of national borders.  This led Adam to pursue master’s level studies in Economics and Latin American & Border Studies at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).  From 2011 to 2018 he worked at the Border Region Modeling Project, a research unit within the UTEP Department of Economics and Finance.  Adam is married to Nohemí Orozco-García, a native of Guadalajara, Mexico, who is in the process of finishing a PhD in History at UTEP.
