album coverColorado State University clarinet professor, Wesley Ferreira, has released an album featuring selections of clarinet music by composer James M. David; Dr. David is the composition professor for the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance.

Contemporary Clarinet Music was released on the OClassica European classical music record label.

There are a host of Ferreira's CSU colleagues featured on the recording: Clarinet Sonata “Historias y Danzas” is performed with pianist Timothy Burns; Trio “Fantasy Etudes: Book IV” for clarinet, flute, and percussion is recorded with Michelle Stanley and Eric Hollenbeck; Clarinet Quartet “Duke Front Five” is recorded with Copper Ferreira, along with CSU alumni Cary Dodson and Julie Hale (Park). The CD was recorded in the Griffin Concert Hall at the University Center for the Arts.

“Since arriving to CSU in 2011, I have been a part of many commissions and premieres of James David’s works with clarinet. His music speaks to me," said Wesley Ferreira. "His use of rhythm and groove, and his melodic and harmonic ideas are original and unique. His music is exemplar and very deserving of being showcased.”
