The Duo Francois (faculty artist Ron Francois, violin; and pianist Silvana Santinelli) premier a newly commissioned piece for violin and piano by Juno award-winning Canadian composer Andrew Paul Mac Donald. The new piece entitled Vault, Veil and Veer, Op. 95 is Mac Donald’s fifth sonata for violin and piano.

Mac Donald’s fascination with alliteration is the starting point for what is an amazing piece of music! A vast array of soundscapes with elements of Bartok and Stravinsky are intertwined with a rich harmonic world derived from Mac Donald’s love of jazz. We absolutely love this piece and feel honored that Andrew wrote yet another sonata for the Duo Francois!
