Fall 2022 Bassoon Workshops

Are you a band director interested in understanding the bassoon better and helping your students more easily? Do you have new bassoonists who have switched from another instrument and are looking for some help?

Grab a bassoon and join the FREE virtual bassoon transfer workshops with Cayla Bellamy, assistant professor of bassoon at CSU!

Sessions take place in September and October may be taken in any order, at any time, and repeated as many times as helpful.

Note that some sessions are designed specifically with teachers in mind, some are geared just for the beginning or intermediate level bassoonist, and some are open to anyone.

Topics will include (but not be limited to!)

  • understanding fingerings
  • the break: half hole and venting techniques
  • reeds: purchasing and adjusting
  • intonation
  • vibrato
  • equipment needs and repair
  • open question and answer time

In each session, we will relate these special topics to bassoon fundamentals of posture, breathing, and embouchure formation.
