SUMMARY:Community Meet &amp\; Greet: Willette Professorship in Catholic Stu
 dies (Susan Brower-Toland)
DESCRIPTION:Community Meet &amp\; Greet: Dr. Susan Brower-Toland\n\nThe CSU
Department of Philosophy invites our local faith and secular community me
mbers to join us for a Meet &amp\; Greet with each of the four finalists f
or the Willette Professorship in Catholic Studies. All engagement events w
ill be held in the Seminar Room of the Smith Alumni Center (701 W. Pitkin
St\, Canvas Stadium).\n\nOn Thursday\, March 31\, we welcome Dr. Susan Bro
wer-Toland\, Associate Professor of Philosophy at Saint Louis University.\
n\nProfessor Brower-Toland’s research and published work lies in medieva
l philosophy\, philosophy of religion\, and philosophical theology (in the
Christian tradition). She has a particular focus on later-medieval discus
sions in metaphysics and the philosophy of mind\, often with special inter
est in William Ockham’s contribution to these topics.\n\nProfessor Browe
r-Toland is a central figure in the NEH and Mellon funded Philosophy as a
Way of Life Project\, which asks us to “think deeply and ambitiously abo
ut the good life\,” in bringing philosophy out of the academy and into p
eople’s lives. This project has shaped Dr Brower-Toland’s approach to
teaching\, research\, and academics more generally.\n\nEvent contact: kenn
