Paul K. Chappell, peace leadership director for the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, will discuss “Peaceful Revolution: Restoring Hope in a Traumatized World,” Feb. 20, 6-8 p.m., on the Colorado State University campus.

The talk is free and open to the public, and will be held in the second-floor auditorium, Room 221, of The Institute for Learning and Teaching (TILT) building on the CSU Oval. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

A graduate of West Point and a veteran of the war in Iraq, Chappell created the idea of peace literacy after his time in the military. He develops the idea further in his seven-book series, The Road to Peace, where he writes about waging peace, ending war, the art of living, and what it means to be human.

“Paul Chappell’s writings offer hope that our peaceful co-existence on this earth is not only essential but possible,” said Nat Kees, emerita faculty in the CSU School of Education, who organized Chappell’s visit along with Paul Gessler of Veterans for Peace. “He outlines specific steps we can all take to create lasting peace in ourselves, our relationships and communities, and in the world. We are pleased to help support Chappell’s important work and bring his message to Northern Colorado.”

Chappell’s appearance is sponsored by the Dan Lyons Chapter 178 of Veterans for Peace and the CSU Center for Mindfulness.
