Inklings on Sept. 26 welcomes guest speaker Genesea M. Carter, associate director of composition and assistant professor at Colorado State University.

Carter will discuss navigating professional life with a degree in English, and she will review the winding path to “getting where you’re going” and developing a future game plan.

Her current research agenda explores effects of curriculum, outcomes, and program development on student learning and instructor professional development. Teaching students across the socio-economic spectrum led her to develop an edited collection with Bill Thelin titled Class in the Composition Classroom: Pedagogy and the Working Class.

Carter’s experience in administrative roles led her to develop an edited collection titled Network Theories, Social Justice, and Supersystems in Writing Program Administration and to edit a special issue of Academic Labor: Research and Artistry titled “Intersectional Labor: Sustainability and Solutions in Social Justice.”

Her work is published in Open Words: Access and English Studies, the Journal of Teaching Writing, and Composition Studies.

Our English social club organizes hangout nights, game nights, snacks, special guests, parties, a finals study event, and conversations around our common interests.
