Art & Science Family Day is a free, drop-in program featuring art and science activities led by CSU Art Education faculty and students. This month, the Little Shop of Physics from the CSU College of Natural Sciences will join our Art Education leaders for a hands-on science (and art) outreach workshop.

Art & Science Family Day is inspired by the exhibition Reclamation: Recovering Our Relationship with Place, which asks what might happen if artists and scientists come together to solve environmental problems. The exhibition features six artists who envision new ways to reclaim and repair land that’s been decimated by resource extraction. These artists also challenge cultural preconceptions and practicality in favor of poetry, humor, and collaboration.

The Little Shop of Physics “…seeks to find creative ways to share the wonder of science with people of all ages, backgrounds, and interests,” and to present hands-on workshops and experiences for kids of all ages.

Reclamation and Art & Science Family Day are both presented in collaboration with the CSU Energy Institute.

Support for Reclamation: Recovering Our Relationship with Place has been generously provided City of Fort Collins Fort Fund, by the FUNd Endowment at CSU, and with support from Colorado Creative Industries. CCI and its activities are made possible through an annual appropriation from the Colorado General Assembly and federal funds from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The project was also made possible, in part, through a grant from the Lilla B. Morgan Memorial Endowment, which works to enhance the cultural development and atmosphere for the arts at Colorado State University. This fund benefits from the generous support of all those who love the arts.
