History

Vincent Alan LaPerriere, born July 29, 1967, was a thoughtful, creative individual who had the courage to express himself in unique ways. A graduate of Colorado State University, Vincent studied visual arts as a painting major. As president of SOVA, Students of Visual Arts, he was instrumental in bringing Judy Chicago's Birth Project to the University. During his time in Fort Collins, in addition to making paintings and collages, he was in a new wave band that played the local scene. Living for a time on the east coast enlivened his love for teh western landscape. He then enrolled at the University of Wyoming in Laramie where he did graduate work in the visual arts. At the time of his death in November, 2001, in addition to making his art, he was a creative software programmer for LionBridge, a company based near Boulder, Colorado. His daughter, Joanna, was the star in his life. In celebration of his life, this scholarship at Colorado State in Vincent's name is being established, which will be given to a meritorious painting major. He loved the University and Fort Collins, and believed he grew tremendously during his time there.
