Biography

Souleymane Coulibaly  "Coul" is a Fulbright scholar, an international student from Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast). He holds a Master's degree in English studies (Minor: Linguistics) and a DESS (Postgraduate diploma) in Communication for Development (C4D) at Felix Houphouet Boigny University in Cote d'Ivoire.

Before arriving at Colorado State University, Coulibaly was involved in community health programs for more than 5 years to prevent HIV/AIDS ( e.g. film projections followed by focus groups and HIV testing in communities), Malaria ( e.g. promotion of free insecticide treated bed nets in households, free distribution of antimalarial drugs to pregnant women in remote rural areas)  , Child Malnutrition ( e.g. detection of malnutrition, cooking of local nutritious foods) , and promote Maternal ( e.g. promotion of sexual and reproductive health through effective modern contraception) and Child Health (e.g. promotion of lifesaving  gestures/habits for babies and under five years old children).

Coulibaly's research interests include Health Communication with focus on Mobile Health (mHealth to prevent avoidable diseases, promote healthier behaviors, and manage chronic diseases ) and New Media ( use, effects).

First Generation Story

My parents did not have the chance to go to college to pursue their education. However, they are still my first motivators to take my studies seriously and achieve a goal through education. My parents know the importance of sending a child to school. They believe education can lead me to a better future, and I agree with them!
