Biography

Professor. B.A., English, Hope College; M. Phil., Ph.D., American Studies, Yale University.

Professor Ronda teaches American literature and culture, particularly of the 19th century. He is the author of journal articles and reviews in Emerson Society Quarterly, American Transcendental Quarterly, New England Quarterly, and other journals. Professor Ronda is the editor of The Letters of Elizabeth Palmer Peabody, American Renaissance Woman (1984), and the author of Intellect and Spirit: The Life and Work of Robert Coles (1989), Elizabeth Palmer Peabody, A Reformer on Her Own Terms (1999), and Reading the Old Man: John Brown in American Culture (2008). He is currently working on a study of the influences of Transcendentalism in the late 1800s and early to mid-1900s.
