Dalcroze Workshop: Dare to Dabble with Dalcroze Eurhythmics

Swiss music educator, Emile Jaques-Dalcroze (1865-1950), believed in movement as our “sixth sense.” This workshop introduces participants to Dalcroze Eurhythmics, where, through movement, sound is experienced in an entirely new way. Learn kinesthetic games and activities that teach your students musical concepts such as beat, meter, rhythm, melodic contour, dynamics, articulation, and phrasing. Dalcroze techniques will engage your students through perceptive listening, concentration, and musical problem-solving, while enabling them to become more musically expressive. The workshop is designed for K-12 music teachers, applied music instructors, as well as anyone who teaches or performs music, and is a sample of content for MU 524 Dalcroze Eurhythmics at CSU. Registration required.

“Give to the child the possibility to construct ideas and imagination and put it into reality, then you give him life.” ~ Èmile Jaques-Dalcroze, 1907
