LIBERAL ARTS MAJOR CONCENTRATIONS
If you choose the Liberal Arts major, then you must select one of the following concentrations:
Arts and Humanities Concentration
This concentration enables you to study the many forms of artistic, literary, or philosophical expression. It provides you with flexibility to choose arts and humanities courses (with input from your faculty adviser) and to craft a program that is best suited to your individual interests and needs.
Center for Applied Studies in American Ethnicity (CASAE)
CASAE offers both a Minor in Ethnic Studies and an Ethnic Studies interdepartmental Liberal Arts Major. The Minor and Major in accordance with the philosophy that studying and understanding ethnicity can deepen appreciation of the various ethnic heritages, the patterns of interaction among those ethnic traditions, and the nature or problems suffered because of abuses and misunderstandings about ethnic and perceived racial identities.
Social Sciences Concentration
This concentration enables you to study human behavioral, institutional, and social patterns. It provides you with flexibility to choose social sciences courses (with input from your faculty adviser) and to craft a program that is best suited to your individual interests and needs.
American Studies Concentration
This concentration explores the themes and structures characteristic of American culture. It examines the ways cultural forms unite and give coherence to American experience. It also explores the ways class, gender, and race provide a variety of cultural expressions to the American experience.
International Studies Concentration
This concentration provides four options--Latin American Studies, Asian Studies, European Studies, and Middle East / North African Studies. It examines the culture, history, language, and expression of these four areas of the world.
Arts and Humanities and Engineering Science Concentration
Students interested in a broad education and training for the engineering profession may take a five-year program awarding a B.A. with a major in liberal arts, arts and humanities concentration, and a B.S. in engineering sciences.
Social Sciences and Engineering Science Concentration
Students interested in a broad education and training for the engineering profession may take a five-year program awarding a B.A. with a major in liberal arts, social science concentration, and a B.S. in engineering science.
