Message From Blane Harding, Academic Advisor for The College

"Academic advising is one of the most crucial services we provide students and it is based on a dynamic relationship between advisor and advisee. Each student in the College of Liberal Arts will be assigned an academic advisor who will assist students to establish academic and personal goals and then guide students through course selection and activities that will allow them to reach these goals.
Students should meet with their advisor at least once a semester, or as often as needed, to assure they are making progress toward graduation. Ideally, the advisor serves as teacher and guide in an interactive partnership aimed at enhancing the student's self-awareness and fulfillment."
You will find a warm, personable, and competent staff available to assist you in the Dean's Office, which is located in C 127 Clark. In addition, the College of Liberal Arts has a full-time career counselor.
A liberal arts education prepares you for many careers in areas such as education, business, and government. However, to help you find a rewarding career, you should consider gaining work experience during your college years through a part-time job or an internship. You also should identify successful job-search strategies and develop a persuasive resume. Professionals at the Career Center present seminars on these and other topics. They also maintain a list of internships and notices of employment opportunities, and they organize a career fair each semester.
Your faculty adviser and the career counselor are here to assist you in achieving your educational and career goals.
